By Our Special Correspondent
ATHENS,
AUG. 18.
Reena Kumari lost to sixth-ranked Shu Chi Yuan of Chinese Taipei, the Asian Games gold medallist, 148-166 in the pre-quarterfinals of the women's archery competition at the Panathinaiko Stadium here on Wednesday.
The Chinese Taipei archer shot better than the 20-year-old Indian girl in every one of the six rounds to emerge a comfortable winner.
Reena was the last of the three Indian women archers to bow out, following the first round elimination of Dola Banerjee and the second round departure of Sumangala Sharma in a knockout draw of 64.
Satyadev Prasad will be competing in his pre-quarterfinal match against the No. 1 ranked Dong Hyun Im of Korea on Thursday.
The reigning Olympic champion Yun Mi Jin beat Jennifer Nichols of the U.S. to stay on course to defend her title in the women's event.
She will be up against Shu Chi Yuan in the quarterfinals.
