Shikha sinks
ATHENS,
AUG. 18.
Shikha Tandon finished seventh in the second heats of the women's 100-metre freestyle event with a timing of 59.70 seconds. She was 2.32 seconds behind the winner of her race, Vanessa Garcia.
The 19-year-old Bangalore girl, a bio-tech student of the Jain College, clocked 28.31 for the first 50 metres and 31.39 for the second. Shikha was placed 46th among 50 competitors at the end of the heats in which Inge de Bruijin of the Netherlands topped with a 54.43.
The Indian lass is scheduled to compete in the 50-metre style event as well. Our Special Correspondent
