The two Congress MLAs charged that the move by the Chautala regime to curtail the terms of the Panchayati Raj Institutions and Municipal Committee bodies by 120 days "smacks of political vendetta.''
They said that the ruling party wanted to conduct the elections to these bodies before the Assembly elections in the State to "install their own men in these bodies.''
They also criticised the proposed "Appointment and Condition of Service of Haryana State Election Commission Ordinance 2004'' which would enable the Government to appoint even former Chairmen of Haryana Public Service Commission or former Vice-Chancellor as the State Election Commissioner.
The two MLAs urged the Governor to intervene and take the opinion of legal experts before giving his approval to such Ordinances and Amendments.
