Jayalakshmi gets more time to file affidavit

By Our Staff Reporter

MADURAI, AUG. 18. The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has granted further time to Jayalakshmi to file an affidavit in a case relating her to several police officers.

Order to police

The police have also been directed to stay away from hearing distance when she consults counsel for preparation of the affidavit. Her counsel, M. Alagarsamy, had said that he was permitted to meet her only under police surveillance. As the allegation was against police officers it was difficult for her to divulge any information.

The Bench, comprising Justice N. V. Balasubramanian and Justice T. V. Masilamani, also directed the Legal Services Authority to engage counsel for Jayalakshmi's father, K. Alagirisamy, who was produced before the court with police protection as directed earlier.
