KOLKATA, AUG. 19. The Birla camp today filed two petitions in the Calcutta High Court seeking permission to file only the photocopies of the Mutual Will of the late M. P. Birla and Priyamvada Birla on which they are seeking a probate. In their petition filed before Justice SubhroKamal Mukherjee, they said that the issue of the Will has created havoc among public and materials pertaining to the Will have found their way to the media, even from the Court. Under these circumstances, the petitioners were seeking permission to file photocopies of the Will to "eliminate all possible risks and dangers of being lost, tampered, defaced or damaged". The petition said that the original would be filed if the Court so requires. However the petition also prayed to the Registrar, original side, to keep the Will in safe custody. N. G. Khaitan, solicitors to the Birlas said that permission had been sought to file a certified photocopy as this Will was an unregistered one. However like on an earlier occasion, Justice Mukherjee released the matter on personal grounds without hearing it.
