THIRUVANANTHAPURAM. Aug. 19. The Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation (Keltron) will soon launch a seven-month specialised Multimedia Expert Programme in 3D Graphics and Animation, the Corporation's Managing Director, V. Ramkumar, said.
High demand
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said the course had been set up after several studies showed that there was a huge demand for trained personnel in these fields and that the demand was for specialists rather than for generalists in animation technology. The first four months of the Keltron Certified Multimedia Expert programme(KCME) will expose the students to the design tools for the printing and publishing industry, video editing and special effects, CD authoring, 2D animation and portfolio and web development. The rest of the course would be devoted to specialisation in 3D animation. The students will also be given a film-making project as part of the course.
Free computers
The first 100 students who sign up for the course, which will cost Rs. 50,000, will be given free computers. Free internet access will be provided for five years to help them stay connected to the Keltron centres and to the faculty. The new course will be offered on all the Keltron Animation Campuses in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Kozhikode, he said.
