ANANTAPUR, AUG. 19. The Telugu Desam president and former Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has urged the Government to constitute a House Committee or form an all-party panel to study the factionalism issue and suggest ways for rooting out the evil from Rayalaseema. Talking to newspersons here on Thursday before leaving for Bangalore, Mr. Naidu suggested local committees to prevent spread of violence. He also appealed to all democratic forces to fight factionalism. The `one-sided' killings were making the State a `smasanandhra pradesh' (graveyard) instead of `haritandhra pradesh', he observed.
`Act without bias'
Mr. Naidu asked the Government to take action it deemed fit as per law against perpetrators of factionalism without any bias. But, if the ruling party continued its killing spree unabatedly they would awaken people and such a biased dispensation would not last long, he warned. Mr. Naidu suggested the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to stop using money and muscle power to tackle his rivals. He opined that Mr. Reddy was unable to come out of the shadow of his father Raja Reddy, who had an established factional history. Mr. Naidu suggested it was high time Dr. Reddy shed his image of a leader with factional and criminal background.
Prisoners' release
Mr. Naidu took exception to the release of killer of an SP on the occasion of the Independence Day. By releasing 1,050 convicts the Government had proved that it was concerned with them and not with eight crore people, he said. He alleged that the Congress Government had prepared a list of TDP leaders whom they would like to harass next. The Chief Minister would be held responsible, if something went wrong against them, he said.
