TRCCC leaders seek package for Telangana

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, AUG. 19. The Telangana Regional Congress Coordination Committee (TRCCC) leaders, led by A.R. Amos and K. Kesava Rao, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Thursday seeking greater attention to the development of Telangana region.

Hailing the initiative of the Congress party in reaching out to the distressed people, the TRCCC leaders sought a comprehensive development package for Telangana.

The speedy implementation of the irrigation projects was a boon for people of the backward regions, they said projecting the Congress as the saviour of Telangana region.

The committee members also conveyed to the Chief Minister their preference to break the alliance with the TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) in the ensuing local body elections. The TRS had become irrelevant for people of the Telangana region who were happy with the programmes and policies of the Congress Government, they said.

They also lent their support to the party's demand for constitution of the second States Reorganisation Commission (SRC) to find a solution to the Telangana problem.
