HYDERABAD, AUG. 19. A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, comprising the Chief Justice, Devinder Gupta, and Justice C.V. Ramulu, on Wednesday declared that all the five writ petitions regarding the master plan for Tirumala and the demolition of various ancient structures will be heard on September 15.
Stay to continue
The bench made it clear that the earlier orders restraining the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and the State Government from further construction of the Mahaprakaram, the demolition of the Pedajeeyar Mutt, the Hathiramji Mutt and the Golla Mandapam, will continue. The bench was not inclined to pass orders regarding the writ petition filed by the Uttarandhra Vaikhanasa Mandali, which had sought the suspension of the Government memo ordering the construction of the thousand-pillar Mandapam at the old site.
Cases before Court
It may be recalled that two writ petitions were filed seeking a stay on the demolition of the Golla Mandapam and the Hathiramji Mutt. A third writ petition filed by the All India Vaishnav Mandali seeking the reconstruction of the thousand-pillar Mandapam is also before the court.
Writ petition
A comprehensive writ petition filed by Tirumala Seshukumar, challenging the Tirumala master plan on grounds of violation of freedom of religion, is also before the court; interim orders staying the construction of the Mahaprakaram were given regarding this petition. The bench said all the cases will be heard comprehensively on September 15 and directed the parties to file the appropriate replies and necessary documents.
