Masters CC to meet SBT `B'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, AUG. 20. State Bank of Travancore `B' will meet Masters CC in the final of the G.V. Raja memorial all-Kerala cricket tournament. In the semifinals at the Medical College ground on Friday, SBT `B' beat Cycle Brand Kids CC by five wickets while Masters defeated Youngmen CC by 47 runs.

Chasing 166 in 28 overs, SBT `B' had a few hiccups before a resourceful sixth-wicket stand between Sudheesh (52 not out) and S. Ramakrishnan (42 not out) carried the team to victory.

Masters, aided by a quickfire 70 from Sachin, posted a challenging 207 for eight in its allotted 25 overs. In reply, YMCC could manage only 160.

The scores:

Cycle Brand Kids 165 for nine in 28 overs (Rohan Prem 50, Arun 33, Anil three for 29) lost to SBT `B' 166 for five in 27 overs (Sudheesh 52 not out, S.Ramakrishnan 42 not out, Sajith three for 30).

Masters 207 for eight in 25 overs (Sachin 70, Anil three for 39) bt YMCC 160 in 24 overs (Rakesh 42, Biju 36, Joseph three for 23, Jose three for 33). — Our Sports Reporter
