Social worker presented Rajiv award

NEW DELHI, AUG. 20. A social worker who has helped rehabilitate hundreds of prisoners' children and child prisoners has been presented with the Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award, 2003.

Aneena Joseph Mathew of Kerala received the award, comprising Rs. 1 lakh, a silver plaque and a citation, from the Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Kanti Singh, today. The award recognised Ms. Joseph's "dedicated and outstanding services for rehabilitation of wounded and rejected children."

Children's home

Ms. Joseph has been working for the welfare of prisoners' families and their children by visiting their homes and providing care and comfort.

She runs a home for such children at Pampady Gram Panchayat in Kerala for 15 years. — UNI
