Cloudy sky likely

NEW DELHI AUG. 21. The weatherman has forecast a generally cloudy sky with few spells of rain or thundershower for the Capital on Sunday.

The maximum and minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Saturday was 33.1 and 23.8 degree Celsius, while Palam recorded a maximum of 32.4 and a minimum of 25.2 degree Celsius. Rainfall in trace was recorded at both the places.

The maximum and minimum humidity recorded at Safdarjung was 93 per cent and 61 per cent respectively, while at Palam it was 93 per cent and 65 per cent respectively.

Bid to murder

NEW DELHI AUG. 21. A 28-year-old man was shot at from close range by two unidentified men in a house at Krishna Nagar in East Delhi today. According to the police, residents of Sunehri Masjid Mor saw two persons in hot pursuit of a man who entered a house in a bid to escape from them. The duo followed him into the house and shot at him from close range.

In the meantime, a woman present in the house got alarmed and ran out of the house. The duo chased her too and tried to strangle her. She collapsed on the ground after which the duo escaped from the spot.

Robber shot

NEW DELHI AUG. 21. A man who had allegedly stolen wheat bags from a goods train and had tried to snatch the weapon of a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel was shot dead at Shakur Basti in North-West Delhi on Saturday night.

According to a Northern Railway spokesperson, a RPF team was patrolling the tracks near Shakur Basti Basala-Rampura gate on Friday night. Around midnight, a group of men appeared on the scene. On being confronted by the RPF team, the suspects began grappling with them. One of them tried to snatch the service rifle of a head constable. Constable Chand then pulled out his weapon and shot at the man who fell into a "nullah''. He was declared dead in hospital.

Man kills wife,himself

NEW DELHI AUG. 21. A 36-year-old man allegedly hacked his wife to death before consuming poison himself at Timarpur in North Delhi on Friday night. Later he also died. He had apparently been suspecting his wife of infidelity.

Accidentally shot at

NEW DELHI AUG. 21. A 64-year-old businessman accidentally shot at and injured his 32-year-old daughter at his Kirti Nagar residence in West Delhi today.
