MADURAI, AUG. 21. The Dindigul MP, N.S.V. Chitthan, has urged the Centre to take steps for establishing a link bridge between Nilakottai and Usilampatti taluks. "It is essential to construct a new bridge at the Peranai regulator involving least land acquisition," he said in a statement here recently. He said the width of the Vaigai was approximately 300 meters and the rough estimate for constructing the bridge would be around Rs.6 crores. The bridge would not only save 30-km travel to southern parts of Tamil Nadu but also precious time, he said and called upon the Centre to take up the work on priority and sanction adequate funds.
