NEW DELHI: The Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. established thermal-generating sets produced 8 per cent more electricity at 109.5 billion units during April-July 2004 compared to the year-ago period. The sets generated a record 109.59 billion units during the first four months of this fiscal as compared to 101.19 billion units in the year-ago period. These sets generated 318.8 billion units of thermal electricity last fiscal, 79 per cent of total thermal power generated, says a BHEL release. It also said that the plant load factor, which is an important indicator of a plant's efficiency, of the thermal sets also improved to 75.6 per cent from 71.4 per cent in April-July 2003. The operating availability of these sets also increased to 85.1 per cent from 82.5 per cent during the review period.
