Dalmiya set to be nominated for NCA post

Mumbai. Aug. 23. After he relinquishes Presidency of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) this September end, Jagmohan Dalmiya will be nominated as Chairman of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Board of Directors. Sunil Gavaskar will be the Chairman of the cricket committee and he along with another cricketer, two administrators and all office-bearers of the BCCI, will be directors on the NCA Board.

At a Working committee meeting last year, the BCCI went ahead with a proposal to give the nodal institution for cricket a professional management. A three-member committee in Vice-Presidents, N. Srinivasan and Kamal Morarka and former BCCI President Purshottam Rungta and former Treasurer Kishore Rungta suggested that the reins of four-year old NCA should be in the hands of the Board of Directors.

The administrative facelift to the NCA is only one aspect of the overhaul the Board will carry out in the coming months. Founded four years ago on the premise that the custom-built institution will become a silo of talent and keep the supply of quality cricketers to the national team constant, the NCA, according to the affiliated members of the BCCI, needs to have a fresh look and revamp, in the areas of cricket-related activities in particular. — Our Special Correspondent
