PONDICHERRY, AUG. 23. A total of 1032 (out of expected number of 1213) candidates appeared for the common entrance test today for admission under management quota to four private unaided engineering colleges in the Union Territory of Pondicherry. The Development Commissioner and Secretary to the Education Department, B.V. Selvaraj, said in a release today that the test was held in Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College, Madagadipet, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology, Kirumambakkam (both in Pondicherry), Bharathiar College of Engineering and Technology at Karaikal and at Regency Institute of Technology at Yanam. These colleges together have a total of 825 seats under management quota. Mr. Selvaraj said the merit list would be drawn in the office of the Convener of the Common Entrance Test in the presence of government nominees and observers.
