PONDICHERRY, AUG. 23. Activists of the AIADMK-led Anna Trade Union Forum in Pondicherry today held a demonstration near the Head Post office, condemning the Centre for slashing the Employees Provident Fund interest rate from 9.5 to 8.5 per cent. The protesters raised slogans criticising the reduction in the interest rate and said the United Progressive Alliance Government led by the Congress at the Centre had meted out a great injustice to the working class. Our Vellore Staff Reporter reports: The AIADMK volunteers, led by S. Gokula Indira, MP and secretary of the women's wing, and P. Neelakandan, Arcot MLA, staged a demonstration in front of the Head Post Office, protesting against the reduction in the EPF interest rate.
