Reservation debate

Sir, — Some readers, while discussing the issue of reservation, have asked why the present generation should pay for the `sins' of its ancestors.

But why many belonging to the most marginalised sections do not even vote to this day in many parts of India is because of the legacy of the ancestors — exploiting the downtrodden in the name of god and religion. The `sins' of the ancestors have caused deep fissures in our society.
