Many trains behind schedule

JALANDHAR, AUG. 24 . The Delhi bound 4682 Jalandhar-Delhi Super Express today remained suspended even as flash floods in Madhya Pradesh disrupted the schedule of several long distance trains on the busy Delhi-Jammu and Delhi-Amritsar sections.

A Railway spokesman here said the down service of the Super Express from Delhi to Jalandhar was 12 hours behind its schedule. The train which was to arrive here at 11pm reached Jalandhar at 11am today.

In a bid to regularise its schedule, the railway authorities have cancelled the Jalandhar-Delhi run of the train for today. Now this train would depart for Delhi as per its normal schedule early Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, floods in the Itarsi- Hoshangabad region in Madhya Pradesh had disrupted normal train movement and several Jammu and Amritsar bound trains were running five to 13 hours behind schedule.

Among such trains are Amritsar bound 8237 Bilaspur- Amritsar Chhattishgarh Express was late by 13 hours, Jammu- bound 6031 Chennai Jammu Andaman Express was late by 12 hours and1077 Jhelum Express by 11 hours. The other Jammu- bound trains running late are Swaraj Express( five hours) and Malwa Express ( five hours){gt} The Amritsar bound 5707 Katihar- Amritsar Amrapali Express was late by seven hours and Amritsar- bound 1057 Dadar Amritsar Express was running six hours behind schedule.
