Olympic Games
No sanctions against Australian rowers
ATHENS,
AUG. 24.
Australia's women's eight will not face any sanctions for publicly criticising teammate Sally Robbins for collapsing during the Olympic rowing finals, the Australian Olympic Committee chief has said.
Robbins, acknowledged as one of the team's most powerful rowers, slumped back and let her oar dangle in the water with about 600 meters of the 2,000-meter race to go on Sunday.
Despite an agreement not to speak publicly about teammates' performances, the crew lashed out at Robbins immediately afterwards and reportedly refused to speak to her after the race.
