PONDICHERRY, AUG. 24. The Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, R.V. Janakiraman (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam), today said the Lieutenant Governor, M.M. Lakhera, after completing his tenure in the gubernatorial post here, could well contest a poll, become a legislator and take charge as a Minister. Mr. Janakiraman was alluding to the enthusiastism with which Mr. Lakhera had been discharging his duties since assuming charge on July 7. He had been visiting various institutions, organisations and making field visits for first hand information on the implementation of schemes. The DMK leader was speaking at a function organised by the Pondicherry AIDS Control Society where Mr. Lakhera inaugurated a training programme for anganwadi workers and balasevikas. He complimented the Lieutenant Governor on his pro-active role in ensuring implementation of schemes.
