Tirumala water project in 30 months

TIRUPATI,
AUG. 24.
Kumaradhara-Pasupudhara, the ambitious project aimed at solving the drinking water problem of Tirumala, is expected to be completed in two and a half years.
After lying in cold storage for nearly two decades, the project has attained a shape with the Union Forest Ministry according environmental clearance to it.
No sooner had this nod been secured than the TTD authorities swung into action, worked out the modalities and called for tenders. The work has been awarded to Maytas, Hyderabad, at a cost of Rs.100 crores.
Of this, the project cost is Rs.85 crores and the pipeline to be linked to the existing Akasa Ganga supply system costs Rs.15 crores.
