ISLAMABAD, AUG. 24. Pakistan today accused the Union Home Ministry of having "cooked-up figures" on cross-border infiltration and counselled the Congress against entertaining any "second thoughts" on the India-Pakistan peace process. The Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman, Masood Khan, however, insisted that the peace process was on course.
The recent Congress resolution, while harping on the "oft-repeated allegations of infiltration, has blacked out the human rights violations and gross atrocities" in Kashmir, he said.
To a question on the progress of the first round of composite dialogue, Mr. Khan said the two countries had come a long way since their forces were arrayed against each other. "We have our differences, but we are engaging each other ... we should not try to rock the boat," he said. "Let us keep giving clear signals that we are committed to [a] result-oriented composite dialogue process for a durable peace in the region."
