CHITRADURGA, AUG. 24. D. Tangaraj, Principal Secretary in-charge of Chitradurga district, has directed the district administration to prepare a list of hospital buildings in the district that needed immediate repair and to draft an action plan to take up repair works in phases. Chairing a district progress review meeting here on Tuesday, Mr. Tangaraj asked the Deputy Commissioner to submit a proposal if additional grants were required for the hospital repair works. He also asked the Health Department to set up Ayurvedic hospitals in rural areas and help poor patients. Mr. Tangaraj directed the officers to complete all the works taken up under drought relief measures. ``Even if we have good rain, there is still shortage of drinking water in some pockets of rural areas. That problem has to be addressed with all seriousness. If necessary, we should take up employment generation schemes,'' he added. M.A. Sadiq, Deputy Commissioner, asked the officers to submit a status report before the end of the month, on the construction of ``percolation tanks'' to recharge borewells in the district. The district administration had taken up the task of construction of 1,000 ``percolation tanks'' to recharge 1,000 borewells in the district. Narayanaswamy, Chief Executive Officer, S.H. Vijay Kumar, Headquarters Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner, K.S. Nandeesh, Deputy Secretary, and B.K. Manjunath, Chief Planning Officer, participated in the meeting.
