ANANTAPUR, AUG. 24. In an unusual incident, a cranky passenger held an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus belonging to Kadiri depot hostage in Eedulapalle village of Mudigubba mandal last night. The conductor of the bus was admitted to the hospital due to the alleged attack by the passenger. According to the information reaching here, one Shankar Reddy of Eedulapalle boarded the RTC bus (AP-10Z-5966) bound for his village from Kadiri at Mudigubba. The passenger had an altercation with the conductor, Somasekhar, when the latter asked him to purchase the ticket. Another passenger of the village purchased the ticket for Shankar Reddy, when he refused to buy one. The night-halt bus reached its destination at 12.30 on Tuesday. After all the five passengers alighted from the bus Shankar Reddy, went back to the bus crew and started beating up the conductor and said how dare he (conductor) asked him to buy the ticket. He also challenged the crew to take the bus back from the village. The bus driver, Dastagiri, fled to escape the attack when Shankar Reddy tried to manhandle him too. The conductor went to Mudigubba in the morning and complained to the police about the incident. He was later admitted to the Government Area Hospital at Kadiri as he had sustained blood injuries on his face. The bus remained in the village till the reports last came in. Meanwhile, the RTC suspended all buses on Budalampalli route, on which Eedulapalle falls, today in protest against the incident.
