ANANTAPUR, AUG. 24. The district administration has withdrawn kerosene supply to the pink (above poverty line) card-holders from the current month to facilitate supply of the same to about 1.7 lakh white (below poverty line) card-holders, who were issued the cards last year.
Supply stopped
The 1.7 lakh white card holders were being issued only rice from November last year as the Government of India had made it clear that it would not give additional allotment of kerosene for the newly issued cards. Accordingly, the 1.7 lakh of a total of 6,69,460 white card holders were being denied kerosene. As the white card holders are poor, the district administration has decided to withdraw kerosene being given at three litres per card to the 2,10,337 pink card holders without LPG connection along with the other white card holders and give it to the 1.7 lakh white card holders, who were given the cards in November last, from August this year.
Survey soon
When contacted, the Joint Collector, Shashibhushan Kumar, today stated that a survey of the 1.7 lakh white card holders would be taken up after the disbursement of input subsidy to find out the LPG connection holders with single and double cylinders. The single LPG cylinders holders among the 1.7 lakh white card holders would be given only two litres of kerosene per month and double-cylinder holders would be withdrawn the quota (as is the general rule for all card holders).
