HYDERABAD, AUG. 24. With the devout set to throng various bathing ghats along the Krishna for a holy dip during the Krishna Pushkarams starting from August 28, tourist attractions along the banks of the river are being readied for the influx of visitors to the river festival. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation is lining up its fleet of luxury buses for special package tours for the convenience of pilgrims. Special packages from Hyderabad include those to Nagarjunasagar, Srisailam and Vijayawada and from Vijayawada to Amaravathi and Dwaraka Tirumala. Another package takes pilgrims from Kurnool to Srisailam.
CM to inaugurate
A major tourist attraction that will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy coinciding with the beginning of the Krishna Pushkaram at the Punnami Island Resort on Bhavani Island in Krishna river at Vijayawada. The APTDC developed the island resort with 24 cottages in four clusters with a restaurant and bar and a conference room at a cost of Rs. 2.6 crores. A luxury twin deck cruise, Bodhisri, with a seating capacity of 150, would also be commissioned for the Pushkarams.
Accommodation
Officials maintained that the APTDC had spruced up its accommodation and restaurant facilities at Vijayawada, the main centre for the Krishna Pushakarams, Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar, Ettipothala waterfalls, Yadagirigutta, besides setting up wayside amenities at Mannanur, Dwaraka Tirumala and Amaravati known for Buddhist sites.
