Former naxal held under Arms Act
ADILABAD,
AUG. 24.
Gaddala Swamy alias Murali (21), a former member of the People's War Sirpur-Chennur dalam, was arrested by the police near the forest guesthouse at Mancherial on Monday.
A .303 gun and 50 live rounds were seized. A case under the Arms Act was registered against him.
Producing him at a press conference here on Tuesday, the Adilabad SP, Kripa Nanda Tripathi Ujela, and the Bellampalli Additional SP, M. Stephen Raveendra, said Swamy had gone underground in December 2003 after another naxalite, Ramesh, was booked under POTA.
In July, Swamy left the dalam following. deteriorating health and disillusionment with party philosophy. On the affairs in the People's War, he alleged money mattered most to the leadership. Swamy said the PW did not enjoy the support of villagers.
