Ahmed to open ICON 2004

KOCHI, AUG. 24. The maiden national meet of the IATA Agents Association of India (IAAI) will be held here on August 27, 28 and 29. The theme of the convention, ICON 2004, will be `India - the destination of 21st Century'.

The Union Minister of State for External Affairs, E. Ahmed, will inaugurate the meet on Saturday morning. The Minister for Excise, K.V. Thomas, will launch a default insurance scheme for IAAI members.

ICON 2004 will discuss various travel and tourism-related subjects, including low-cost airlines, e-ticketing and Internet ticketing.

About 250 delegates are expected for the convention.
