NEW DELHI, AUG. 24. Large-scale power cuts were reported from various parts of the Capital today. The discom officials attributed this to local faults because of moisture seeping into the system due to continuous rain in the past 24 hours. Even as Delhi Transco officials said there was no shortfall of electricity and the demand for power had dropped considerably, residents all over the city complained of unscheduled load-shedding. Lights also went off at several traffic intersections, resulting in chaos and traffic jams at various places. Complaints of power cuts were received from Pitampura, Rohini, Azadpur, Model Town, Shalimar Bagh, Saraswati Vihar, Saket, Kalkaji, Govindpuri, Malviya Nagar, Mehrauli, Qutab Institutional Area, Sheikh Sarai, Laxmi Nagar, Mayur Vihar, Dwarka, Karol Bagh, Anand Parbat, Sarita Vihar, Ashram, Greater Kailash, South Extension, Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Uttam Nagar, Vikas Puri, Mahipalpur and Vasant Kunj. However, the officials said the power cuts were not for a long duration, except in some parts of the Capital.
