NEW DELHI, AUG. 24. An alleged contract killer, who had faked his own death by getting the body of his rival identified as his own two years ago, has been arrested by the Special Staff of the North-West Delhi police. His three associates have also been arrested. According to the police, Sub-Inspectors Avnish and Shyam Sunder of the Special Staff of the North-West Delhi had got a tip-off about some Bulandshahr-based criminals moving around in the area. On Monday, a trap was laid opposite Wazirpur depot in Saraswati Vihar, North-West Delhi, and the four suspects were arrested when they appeared on the scene around 9 p.m. Those arrested have been identified as Naresh alias Nanda (48), Padam (23), Gajender (22) and Mahesh (28), all residents of Bulandhshahr in Uttar Pradesh. The police recovered two country-made revolvers, cartridges, and knives from them and seized the Scorpio vehicle in which they were travelling. The police said Naresh, who carried a reward of Rs. 2,500 on his head, had killed one of his rivals, Bijender, a history sheeter, at Jahangirabad in Ghaziabad in 2002. He then got his father, Chander Pal, and two witnesses, Ram Singh and Sis Pal, to identify Bijender's body as that of Naresh. The police then declared Naresh dead. Naresh claimed to have hit upon the idea of faking his own murder from Hindi movie "Andha Kanoon".
