VSP hands over land for Gangavaram port
VISAKHAPATNAM: An extent of 1,400 acres has been handed over by the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited to the Andhra Pradesh Government for establishing a minor port at Gangavaram. The land from Kanithi, Pedagantyada and Nellimukku villages has been alienated as per the Union Cabinet resolution of 2002. VSP has taken possession of 700 acres at K. Kotapadu mandal from the State Government for compensatory afforestation. The documents were signed on Wednesday by the Commissioner of Ports, K. Mangapathi Rao, and the Assistant General Manager (land and estate), P. K. Mohapatra, on behalf of the State Government and VSP respectively.
