HUBLI, AUG. 25. The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Uma Bharti, said here today that she would not seek bail and would spend the time in jail till the case against her was withdrawn. To seek a bail would mean an affront to the national flag, she said while speaking to pressmen after the long train journey from Bhopal from Monday night. To get arrested while being Chief Minister would have been an insult to the Constitution and, therefore, she resigned immediately on coming to know of the Karnataka police move to arrest her. On the non-bailable arrest warrant, Ms. Bharti said she had not known about it till recently. Had the Karnataka police told her during her recent visit to Bangalore, she would have gladly courted arrest. However, she expressed unhappiness that the Karnataka Chief Minister, Dharam Singh, did not show the courtesy of talking to her on the arrest move.
