Nurse raped, murdered

CHENNAI, AUG. 25. The body of a 24-year-old nurse, who had been raped and murdered last night, was found at a burial ground near suburban Ambattur here this morning.

Ambattur police said the victim, C.D. Limpsey, was a nurse in a private hospital.

Police said a post-mortem revealed that the woman had been sexually assaulted and strangled to death.

A resident of Murugan Temple Street, Ayapakkam near Ambattur, she did not return home last night, following which her father lodged a police complaint.

Her body was found this morning at the burial ground by passers-by.

The nurse used to cycle from her home to a parking lot in Ambattur, before taking a bus to the hospital where she worked. The cycle was found beside her body this morning.

A sniffer dog from the detective squad picked up a scent but lost trace of it after some distance.

Police said they had some leads and disclosed that special teams had been formed to investigate the case.
