HYDERABAD, AUG.25. An impassioned plea to pledge eyes was made at the panel discussion on `Religion - eye donation' held under the aegis of Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital here on Wednesday. The district Collector, M. Veerabhadraiah, called for a massive publicity campaign to motivate people to pledge eyes, now that the procedure for donation was made simple. Family members should take the initiative in the matter, said the Additional Commissioner of Police, Tejdeep Kaur Menon, who pledged the eyes of her daughter on her death due to cancer. Vidya Narasimha Bharathiji of Pushpagiri Mutt, Swamy Paramarthananda of Ramakrishna Mutt, Lutheran Church pastor, David Raju, film actress Laya, were among those who participated in the meeting. The Superintendent of the hospital, M. Venkateswara Rao, and other staff members were present on the occasion, according to a press release.
