CHENNAI, AUG. 26. The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president, G.K. Vasan, today demanded action against the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Uma Bharti, for reportedly disrespecting the national flag during her journey to Hubli from Bhopal. In a statement here, Mr. Vasan said the former Chief Minister threw the flag on the car bonnet before getting on top of it. This was shown on all television channels. This act was punishable up to three years under a recent amendment to the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act. As Ms. Bharti had committed an offence under the Act she should be arrested and a case registered against her.
