Cabinet reshuffle soon: Antony

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, AUG. 26. The reshuffle of the Kerala Cabinet will take place soon, the Chief Minister, A.K. Antony, said today.

"You won't have to wait for long discussing more about the impending reshuffle. It will be effected very shortly," Mr. Antony told a Malayalam TV channel in an interview to be telecast tomorrow.

Mr. Antony, however, parried questions on whether the reshuffle would cover all Ministers belonging to the United Democratic Front (UDF).

`I offered to resign'

The Chief Minister said he had offered to resign owning responsibility for the defeat suffered by the Congress and the UDF in the last Lok Sabha elections in the State. Mr. Antony said he had expressed his readiness to quit to the AICC chief, Sonia Gandhi, and other leaders and it was for them to take a final decision on the matter.

There were many reasons for the rout the UDF suffered in the Lok Sabha elections, he said, adding that he also shared responsibility for the defeat of certain candidates selected by him in some constituencies.

Mr. Antony said he was of the view that more leaders should be included in the reconstituted KPCC to strengthen the party set-up. - PTI
