74 killed in Najaf

NAJAF (IRAQ), AUG. 26. A total of 74 people were killed and over 350 wounded on Thursday by gunfire and in a mortar attack as Iraq's most powerful Shia cleric returned to Najaf, where the U.S. forces have been battling the militia of the rebel cleric, Moqtada al-Sadr, for three weeks.
