Bihar
By K. Balchand
PATNA, AUG. 27. An Araria court has reserved for September 1 its order on the locus standi of the petitions challenging the Bihar Government's decision to withdraw a criminal case against the Union Minister, Mohammad Taslimuddin. The First Class Judicial Magistrate, K.K. Singh, heard the submissions of the Public Prosecutor who questioned the locus standi of the two Bharatiya Janata Party leaders who had sought to be interveners in the case as also the contentions of the informant, Manzar Alam, who favoured the withdrawal of the case. He reserved his orders, which he would now deliver on September 1. The two BJP leaders, including the district unit chief, Chandra Shekhar Singh, had forwarded their contentions on Thursday. The court is expected to take up the issue of withdrawal of the case against Mr. Taslimuddin after ruling on the two petitions of the BJP leaders next week.
