Blue Star's new initiatives

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, AUG. 27. Blue Star has trained its eyes on garnering 20 per cent share in the commercial and corporate segment of the room airconditioner market. Indicating this, T. G. S. Balu, Executive Director, said Blue Star had already kick-started several initiatives to hit this target over the next 12 months. Creation of an independent room air-conditioner department under the supervision of a general manager, development of channel partners through appointment of dealers — both exclusive and non-exclusive, establishment of product display centres across the country were among myriad initiatives Mr. Balu had listed in this context.

Mr. Balu said Blue Star had classified the newly created room airconditioner wing as an independent profit centre.

The company had just launched a range of contemporary and aesthetically appealing mega split airconditioners.

Mr. Balu said the company was going in for a greenfield project in Himachal Pradesh. The project was expected to be up and running in 6-8 months and would involve an investment of around Rs. 30 crores, he added. Mr. Balu said Blue Star was also set to make a foray into the Rs. 250-crore ammonium cold storage market.
