MIMS aims at deemed university status
KOZHIKODE: The multi-speciality hi-tech Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) has decided to enhance its bed strength in its hospital in Kozhikode from 300 to 500, develop satellite healthcare centres in neighbouring districts and prepare the ground for gaining the status of deemed university for its academic programme. Speaking at a press conference, MIMS Chairman, Dr. Azad Moopen, said to meet the increasing demand for hospital services, it had been decided to add 200 more beds by the year 2006. For MIMS Academy campus 25 acres of land had been acquired. The campus would have a nursing college to begin with. Courses in laboratory, radiology, medical records, physiotherapy, pharmacy, and hospital management would be started soon.
