CPI men quit en masse

KARIMNAGAR, AUG. 27. Internal bickering between Communist Party of India district unit leaders and the CPI floor leader in the Assembly, Chada Venkat Reddy, has come to the fore with the lone CPI ZPTC member, three MPTC members and the party rank and file resigning from the party en masse on Thursday.

Party leaders announced their resignation to protest against the Venkat Reddy reportedly ensuring election of his brother, Chada Prabhakar Reddy, to the Chigurumamidi MPP post against the official party candidate, Venkat Rajam.

Before his election to the Assembly from Indurthi segment, Mr. Venkat Reddy was the Chigurumamidi MPP. During the by-elections, he ensured the victory of his brother, Chada Prabhakar Reddy, as MPP of the Chigurumamidi mandal after being elected as MPTC member from Regonda village. Party sources said that the State CPI leadership had announced the candidature of Indurthi MPTC member, Venkat Rajam, for MPP post and Chada Prabhakar Reddy for vice-president post.
