KOZHIKODE, AUG. 27. Fourteen-year-old Mary Ann Gomes won the 31st National women's `B' chess championship at the Chess India Complex here on Friday. She beat N. Raghavi in the ninth and final round and collected 7.5 points, half-a-point ahead of runner-up N. Vinuthna from Hyderabad. The remaining eight berths to the National women's `A' championship were claimed by P. Sivasankari, Bhagyashree Thipsay, Raghavi, M.R. Sangeetha, Anuprita Patil, Swati Mohota, P. Priya and Nimmy A. George.
The placings: 1. Mary 7.5/9, 2. Vinuthna 7, 3-13. Sivasankari, Bhagyashree, Raghavi, Sangeetha, Anuprita, Swati, P. Priya, Nimmy, Amruta, Supriya and Sujatha (6.5).
