Congress worker killed in attack

ELURU, AUG. 26. A Congress worker was killed in an attack that was allegedly engineered by the rival Telugu Desam group at Adivikolanu in Nidamarru mandal of West Godavari district on Thursday night.

Ande Venkateswara Rao (50), a supporter of the Tadepallugudem MLA, Kottu Satyanarayana, and president of the local Water Users Association (WUA), was murdered and his son, Srinivasa Rao (30), sustained critical injuries in the attack. Venkateswara Rao's widow, Nagamani, reportedly attempted suicide on Friday. She is battling for life at a hospital at Ganapavaram.
