HYDERABAD, AUG. 27. All the four NTPC units at Ramagundam, which tripped last night, resumed generation early on Friday. Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Pondicherry and Goa, parts of which were affected by the tripping, began getting normal supply. NTPC officials blamed the tripping on overdrawal by some states without notice while the AP Transco pointed to the fault at the NTPC plant as the reason. Transco sources said the problem arose when the NTPC tried for a trial run of its 500-MW new unit. NTPC engineers toiled throughout the night to rectify the fault and brought the four units back on bar.
2 other units on outage
The NTPC spokesman said efforts were also on on a war-footing to resume the two other units which had been on outage for the past few days. The new unit also may be synchronised anytime. Following the restoration, Andhra Pradesh started getting its share of the NTPC at Ramagundam. It came as a great relief to the Transco authorities, with only one day to go for Krishna Pushkarams.
