HYDERABAD, AUG. 27. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Friday ordered a CID inquiry into the alleged embezzlement of funds pertaining to the National Service Scheme (NSS) between 2000 and 2003. He directed the Additional Director General of Police, CID, to investigate the entire transaction and seize the passport of K. Pulla Reddy, the prime accused, following reports that he was trying to go abroad. The Department of Higher Education brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that Pulla Reddy, who was in NSS cell of the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, on deputation from Bureau of Economics and Statistics, had allegedly forged the signature of the Joint Secretary and Secretary to open an account in State Bank of India for remitting the Central share amount and State Bank of Hyderabad for the State share.
