Labourers killed
According to the police, the speeding dumper was going from Moti Bagh crossing towards Dhaula Kuan when it first hit the stationary truck near the gurdwara and ran over seven labourers who were repairing the road nearby. Even then the dumper driver could not stop it and the vehicle hit a tempo before ramming into an electric pole. The vehicle came to a halt after having broken the boundary wall of the gurdwara. The injured were rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where one of them was declared dead. He was identified as Pramod Mukhia. The other labourer, Jitender, succumbed to his injuries sometime later. The dumper driver, meanwhile, fled from the scene. The police have registered a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving and launched a hunt for the erring driver.

The accused were later identified as Mansoor Alam, Rakesh, Afak, Amirul Haq and Sameem. During interrogation, they disclosed that they were gambling for the past several months.
