Bagan routs FCI
KOLKATA,
AUG. 28.
Former champion Mohun Bagan thrashed Food Corporation of India (FCI) 5-0 to conclude its outing in the first phase of the Calcutta Football League's Super Division on a strong note at its home ground on Saturday.
Seasoned Dulal Biswas, recalled from the bench after a long time, put up a stellar show scoring three of the team's five goals.
Biswas struck the first two in the eighth and 28th minutes while the third goal came from a penalty in the 81st minute. Dharamjit Singh (43rd) and striker Sunil Chhetri (65th) scored the remaining two goals to complete the tally.
Bagan led 3-0 at the half time and scored two more in the second session despite being down to 10 men after its midfielder Amit Das left the field collecting his second booking of the match in the 44th minute.
The win took Bagan's tally of points to 30 and it now remains to be seen what the Defending champion East Bengal, which had a one point lead, does in its final match of the first phase on Tuesday.
