CHENNAI, AUG. 28. The common entrance tests (CET) for admitting students to management quota seats in different professional courses are to be held in Chennai on Sunday. The first CET in respect of medical, dental and para-medical courses is to be conducted by the Tamil Nadu Private Professional Colleges Association for Health Sciences. The association was permitted to conduct the CET by the permanent Committee constituted by the Government under retired Judge S.S. Subramani. According to the association's special officer for conducting the CET, C. Ramachandran, more than 4,200 students would be taking up the test for management quota seats in MBS, BDS, para medical courses (nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy), besides courses in Indian medicine and homoeopathy. There are roughly about 2,600 seats in 123 self-financing colleges in the State. In Tamil Nadu, the CET would go on in seven centres and one each at Kochi and Vijayawada.
MBA/MCA courses
The other entrance test is to be conducted by the Consortium of Self Financing Professional, Arts and Science colleges in Tamil Nadu, for admitting candidates to the management quota seats in colleges offering MBA/MCA courses. About 10,000 students are expected to take Sunday's examinations being held in 23 centres in Tamil Nadu. According to the Consortium president, Jeppiaar, candidates who have not received their hall ticket can collect the duplicate hall ticket from the respective centres by submitting proof of application forms and details of the demand draft or by submitting the status report downloaded from the consortium website (www.tnsfconsortium.org) The results are expected to be released in a week to 10 days.
