KOCHI, AUG. 28. The green signal from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs for the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) in Kochi has given a big boost to the sale of the 53.54 acres of reclaimed land belonging to Goshree Islands Development Authority.
Global tender
GIDA had floated global tenders early this month inviting bids for the land. At the time of going in for the tenders, the Authority had hoped to cash in on the new developments, including the completion of the Goshree bridges and the extension of the Marine Drive towards the north.
Water frontage
The land has a total water frontage of 1.5 kilometres and is one of the prime locations for developmental activities. The possibilities have increased with the clearance of the Vallarpadam project.
Good response
The bids for the land were invited in the first week of August and the tenders will be opened on September 17 at the District Collector's camp office. According to informed sources in GIDA, the sale of the tender forms has been good. GIDA has invited bidders to either take the land in full or according to the options provided by the Authority. A pre-bid meeting will be held on September 1.
